Selva Negra is a fantastic farm in Nicaragua and has the same principles as Leopard Forest in terms of its farming techniques, high standard of living for its workers and commitment to ecological agriculture. They also work to preserve the vast virgin rain forest surrounding their farm. Eddy Kühl and Mausi Hayn, descendants of the original German immigrants who began the farm in the 1880s, demonstrate their dedication in many ways from the use of organic fertilizer to the innovative use of coffee by-products to produce methane gas for cooking. The Kühl's house adjoins the coffee "beneficio" (processing mill), ensuring the close monitoring of production to achieve top quality.
